If you're stuck, revisit some of the materials whose significance you may not yet fully understand, and examine as many clues related to that piece as necessary to continue solving the case.
START
To start the game, divide all of the documents among the players. Read through them and share all of the information with the other players (or read it aloud, for instance).
Suspect List and Island Map
The suspect list will be helpful to establish what happened and when. The map will help you get a grasp on where everything is in relation to one another.
While you are gathering information write down any motives the suspects might have, you'll need to have a motive when you make your accusation or the police won't listen.
Can you rule out any suspects? By process of elimination, you should be able to identify the killer. The more information you collect, the more people you will be able to rule out until you finally understand the whole story and name the culprit.
A TIP
During the course of the game, it will help you out to exchange documents among yourselves and read as many notes as you can. In addition, you should put documents together if you think they belong together.
On this map we can find some key information, it tells us the island is split between 3 zones, the history of the island, and what happens in the event of the storm siren, power outages and fire alarms.
All this information is important, specifically the information about the protocols for when the storm siren is sounded, if anyone is in a different zone to where the murder took place (Zones 2 & 3) when the siren goes off, they will have been unable to cross into zone 1.
This is a list of what room each guest is staying in. This will be very useful when used with other pieces of evidence.
Here we have a fire systems map that shows the layout of the two floors that make up the west wing. We know from our timeline that someone pulled the fire alarm, and in the evacuation someone took rat poison from the store cupboard. The map is also annotated with a note that tells us which alarm was pulled and when.
To work out who pulled the fire alarm we will need to see who accessed the doors in the stairwell at the time the alarm was triggered, let's move onto our keycard data sheet.
This records all the keycard data from 12:30 - 13:30. If we compare this to our fire systems map, we should be able to identify the keycard number that accessed the hallway at the time the alarm was triggered.
If we go through the list we can identify that one person accessed the hallway at the time the alarm was triggered, someone with the keycode '8 3 LW R 7 9 3 3 T P B T 1 3 N W T'
We don't know who this keycard number belongs to, let's take a look at some other pieces of evidence and see if we can find a way to determine who's keycard code belongs to who.
Ellie has given us her keycard and her keycard holder, maybe there is a way of linking the card number to her room number, if we do that we might be able to do the same for the other keycard numbers.
There are two notches cut out of the holder, maybe if we place the card in the holder the right way, it might reveal something.
Yes! If we place the card on the holder the notches line up to reveal R 02, we know that Ellie is in room 02, we can now use this to decipher what keycard code corresponds to which room. And we know what room each guest is staying in allowing us to tie each keycard code to a specific person.
Now we know that the last two numbers before the three letters at the end of the keycard code corresponds to the room number we can determine that these are the keycard numbers and who they belong to

Looks like the person who pulled the alarm was caught red handed and put in custody during the events of the day, this means we can rule out whoever pulled the alarm.
If we follow the QR code to the CCTV page we can try and see who pulled the alarm in the west wing, dissapointingly it looks like the power outage has corrupted a lot of the data recorded. We should keep this page in mind in case we want to take a look at the CCTV somewhere else, maybe not every recording is damaged.
To work out who was in custody we must work out that the person who pulled the alarm had the keycard code '8 3 LW R 7 9 3 3 T P B T 1 3 N W T'. We then need to decipher the code using Ellie's card to show that the keycard is assigned to room 13 which is Lockies room. This means that Lockie pulled the alarm and was held in custody during the murder.
Here is a timetable of the boat trips from Felicity Harbour. We also have two wristbands for tours belonging to two guests.
The wristbands have two reference numbers on them that look to be the same as the keycard codes from our keycard data sheet. To work out which wristband belongs to who, we need to first assign each code to the correct person using other pieces of evidence.
What we can try and work out is which wristband colour is for which boat trip, if we take a look at the timetable we should be able to work it out.
At the bottom of the time table there are three images depicting the different boat trips, if we look at the colours, we can match up the seal trip to the green wristband and the puffin tour to the orange writsband.
Looks like someone didn't have the best time on their boat trip, the person isn't named but it does tell us that they had to move to a ground floor room. Let's look at our boat timetable and wristbands then come back to this.
Once we have determined who our wristbands belong to and what trip they are for we can determine that Josephine is the injured party and was moved to a ground floor room.
If Josephine is unable to use the stairs, and once the power goes out the lifts are unoperational, there is no way she could climb the stairs to commit the murder, giving her an alibi.
This is Nina's business card, if we have a look closesly we might be able to learn more information from this.
The phrase bending backwards is interesting, lets see what happens if we fold the flaps the other way.
If we fold the flaps the other way, they join in the center revealing a url. If we follow that link we can see Nina's website with two preview clips of audio recorded on the island. One of her interview with Erin, and one of her on a lighthouse tour. Now we know she visited the lighthouse, if we can determine when we can see if we can rule her out.
If we listen to her audio from the lighthouse we can hear a siren in the background, if she was at the lighthouse at the time of the siren, she wouldn't be able to cross into zone 1 to commit the murder.
So much for a relaxing spa day, whoever left this feedback is missing half an eyebrow, and was in zone 2 at the salon during the power cut which was also during the island lockdown.
We also have a number, if we call it it goes straight to voicemail, perhaps something in her voicemail holds a clue to our investigation but we need a code. Without knowing who's number this is and who had the brow mishap, we won't be able to figure out the code. Maybe Lockie has some insight, we should message him before we look further into this piece of evidence. If you are in the US and you aren't getting a reply from the phone number - try +18338411818
Now we have spoken to Lockie, we know that Melanie is the one who is missing an eyebrow meaning she can't have been at Flintoff Manor at the time of the murder. Now to see if she left any clues for the passcode.
Before we can find the code for the voicemail, we need to work out who left the feedback for the salon, once we have done that we can try and solve the passcode.
Now we know who's number this is we can try and work out the passcode. They wrote something interesting on the feedback 'I'm usually known for my kind words' and 'You'll have to find that somewhere else'. Let's take a look at the signed retirement party print, that's full of nice messages.
If we look at the message they left on the signed print we have three words followed by 'Just a few ways I would describe Erin, easily going from the end of one word to the beginning of the next, as every good writer does' Perhaps we can apply the 'end of one word to the beginning of the next' to the three words at the top.
If we take the end of the word Patien'T' and the start of 'EN'cyclopedist, the end of encylopedis'T' and the start of 'WO'nderous, and the end of wonderou'S' and the start of 'EVEN'handed we can get the numbers 10 2 7, revealing the passcode to be 1027. Once we are in we hear a voicemail from someone very angry with Erin.
This is a book sleeve proof for Erin's approval, looks like she has been a bit picky about it if we see Melanie's note on the back.
The tag line is interesting, especially when it comes to the phrase 'Truth will be revealed'. The pens on the cover seem to point at eachother, I wonder if the tag line is pointing us to something when it talks about pen crossing the page. Maybe we should see what happens if we draw a line between the pens.
If we draw a line from pen tip to pen tip, they cross on the word Absurd. This doesn't mean much at the moment but we should keep it in mind for later.
Looks like Viktor has sent a mysterious postcard to someone asking to meet them at the founders cove. There doesn't seem to be anywhere named founders cove, maybe we should brush up on our history of the island to see who founded Saint Valiance.
So if we read through the history on the map brochure, it tells us that Albert Flintoff is the orignal founder. Maybe it's worth checking the CCTV page for that location.
If we go to the CCTV page through the QR code on the cusody report, we can search Albert Cove and luckily it isn't corrupted! If we then go to the time of the meeting we can discover Viktor went to go and meet Al.
On reading the audio transcript, it is revealed that the two are actually lovers, as Al tells Viktor the reason he was so emotional after his chat with Erin, the two sit side by side in the shelter of the cove, unaware of the tragedy unfolding at Flintoff Manor.
An email from Erin with a link to a drive with an itinerary and menu form. Let's take a look at the drive and see if there is anything else of interest on there.
If we go to the drive there is also a folder, inside is an old draft for 'The Cat That Walked Into A Cafe' but it's password protected. Maybe we can find the password in another piece of evidence, I'm sure I saw the title of that book mentioned somewhere.
Yes! If we look at the book cover proof we can can see that book mentioned in Erin's profile. Let's take a deeper look into this piece of evidence.
Once we unlock the password with what we got from the book cover we can see that Erin has left notes on this draft. It looks as though this top novelist isn't all she seems and that someone else has been writing her books for her. Someone who seems to mix up common phrases such as 'Pride and joy' I think I have seen that somewhere else.
With what we have gathered we know Lockie was the one who pulled the fire alarm and was then detained during the time of the murder.
We also know that Melanie and Nina were in different zones when the storm siren sounded leaving them unable to cross into zone 1.
Josephine, Harry, Al and Viktor were all in zone 1 during the time of the murder. However, Josephine had injured herself on a boat trip and was moved to a ground floor room, with the lifts out of service after the power cut, she was unable to climb the stairs and get to Erin's room.
Al and Viktor met in secret at Albert Cove, revealing their secret relationship, they stayed at the cove together unaware of the tragedy happening at the manor. This leaves only one person left...
Harry... From the draft on Erin's drive we discover that someone else has been writing Erin's books, someone who always mixes up the phrase 'Pride and Joy' the same phrase wrongly used by Harry on the signed print.
We can also listen to a voicemail Harry left for Melanie, the only other person Erin showed the book to. In this voicemail he also uses the phrase 'haunting her since book two', not to mention that one of 'Erin's previous book titles is 'The Poltergist Scribe'.
After finding out that Erin isn't actually going to 'Bare all' in her memoir, he snapped.
