Clues

If you're stuck, you should have a look at some of the materials whose significance you have so far not quite understood and look at as many clues for that piece as you need to continue solving the case.

I need help getting started

Clue 1

START
To start the game, divide all of the documents among the players. Read through them and share all of the information with the other players (or read it aloud, for instance).

The Table
The table and notes will be helpful. While you are gathering information write down any motives the suspects might have. Do they have alibis? Can you rule out any suspects? By process of elimination, you should be able to identify the thief. The more information you collect, the more people you will be able to rule out – until you finally understand the whole story and can unmask the thief.

A TIP
During the course of the game, it will help you out to exchange documents among yourselves and read as many notes as you can. In addition, you should put documents together if you think they belong together.

Letter From Sandie

Clue 1

This is a great place to start, and a good place to get your bearings. This piece will give you some context and provides a handy table to fill in as you progress through the game.

Northern Sole Leaflet

Clue 1

This gives us a bit more information on what Sandie was exhibiting and give us a clearer idea of what was stolen. Look carefully at all the details.

Clue 2

Interesting - it's worth a lot of money for just one right shoe!

Invitation To Grand Opening

Clue 1

6pm arrival time… interesting. Looks like Sandie wants to make amends. Not with her brother though, that doesn't look like him DJ'ing!

Clue 2

Maybe take a look at the website - that might lead somewhere.

Auction House Receipt

Clue 1

Well I guess the shoe is genuine… hang on though, wasn’t it the RIGHT shoe Sandie had? This must be the left shoe that pairs with the one stolen.

Clue 2

Who's this James Jackson character?

Simon's DJ Flyer

Clue 1

Simon's not giving a lot away here - I guess we use what he's given us...

Clue 2

Go on then - give him a call?

Clue 3

Looks like he's using his stage name now - what a great way to get some promo in....! I wonder where this piece of information may come in useful?

James Jackson Business Card

Clue 1

I wonder if those stripes line up. This card has got to be trying to tell us something....

Clue 2

I think we need to line it up both ways round - and you can spot some words?

Clue 3

If you line up the business card, matching the colours, you can read two words in the middle on either side. One says - SEND ME The other says - ONE KISS Go on then.....where can you send that?

Final Clue

When you send James a text, you should get the following reply:

What a flirt you are! Thanks for getting in touch - you must have my business card. In case you didn't know already, James Jackson is just a pseudonym I use for deals that would rather be kept on the down low. I'll see you at my birthday! Ed S-J

Kingston Forensics Report

Clue 1

Looks like we might need stage 2 before we can understand the results.

Clue 2

Those numbers on stage 2 must line up somewhere.

Clue 3

When placed correctly, those redacted bits should start to make sense.

Final Clue

When Stage 2 is placed correctly to line up with numbers 1-4 you should see each letter spelling ‘NUTS.’ The results of this prove without question that nut DNA was found on the toy basketball! I wonder why that's important?

Car Park ANPR Data

Clue 1

Cars cars cars…. There’s one particularly familiar sounding number plate in there. Maybe check if we have any info on anyone who might have a car?

Clue 2

GRVGLDR - if you called the number on the DJ flyer you’d know by now that this car must belong to Simon Brown! Looks like he was coming and going a bit. Perhaps that’s important.

Final Clue

If only we knew when exactly the robbery took place. Perhaps that would help us with this one.

Idris' Business Card

Clue 1

Seems pretty professional. There’s a QR code on here, and that note to Ed could help us login perhaps.

Clue 3

If you’re at the login page then you’re doing well. “A1” maybe that’s a clue. How could the word BEACH be translated to numbers?

Final Clue

Translate the letters into their corresponding number positions in the alphabet: B = 2 E = 5 A = 1 C = 3 H = 8, 25138 - that should get you in.

Blue Sky Thinking Letter

Clue 1

Wowzas! Sandie owes these guys some cash… And who’s that signing off at the bottom - Priya!? I guess Priya might have cause to steal the expensive trainer then hey?

Final Clue

This one’s all about motive.

Lift Maintenance Invoice

Clue 1

Looks like the lift broke. Wonder if that affected anyone…? And those timings. If only we knew exactly when the robbery took place…

Final Clue

I’m sure this must help rule someone out… but who was inside the elevator, and when…?

Evidence Photograph: Coffee Cups

Clue 1

Two coffee cups… One is full, and one is empty… Well there’s something to takeaway.

Final Clue

Who was planning to drink coffee? I wonder why one wasn’t drunk… Perhaps somebody never arrived to drink their coffee?

Email Chain

Clue 1

Priya designed the building, so it makes sense that she might show Ed around. Wonder if they ever got those coffees?

Final Clue

This might go well with the coffee menu - perhaps you can work out what they had, and that might help to put a time on when the coffees were bought.

Incident Report

Clue 1

Poor Geri, this sounds serious. I guess Geri is highly allergic to nuts! Wonder why that might be relevant.

Final Clue

Where else have we found something nutty? Geri definitely could not have had any contact with anything nut-related.

Coffee Transaction Readout

Clue 1

Mmmm coffee. Email me your preferences, and I’ll add it up.

Clue 2

One of these prices matches the cost of the two drinks in the emails between Priya and Ed - check the coffee menu and don’t forget the oat milk!

Final Clue

The cost of an Americano, and an oat milk latte is £6.70. I guess whoever bought these coffees was busy buying them at 18:25. If only we knew the exact time that the robbery took place…

Coffee Menu

Clue 1

Someone was talking about coffee… who was that? Perhaps that’s important.

Clue 2

The prices on here should help you figure out the exact time that one of our guests was buying coffee… You just need to know what they were planning to order.

Final Clue

Don’t forget the oat milk!

Clue 1

So… according to the tweet, Idris likes to put himself at the centre of a story… he could definitely have constructed this heist to get some good content for his followers.

Final Clue

This one’s all about motive.

Evidence Photograph: Coffee Cups

Clue 1

Whoever did the crime must have dropped this at the scene! Wonder if those shapes are useful somewhere?

Clue 2

I guess the thief must have been able to shut off the alarm system. Could this be the code to access it perhaps? I wouldn’t leave this clue on the side.

Clue 3

Try turning these shapes into numbers - that might work on the security website login… I hope that edges you along.

Final Clue

These shapes can be converted into numbers by the number of sides they have! Octagon = 8 Circle = 1 Heptagon = 7 Triangle = 3 Sure, it could have been corners… but it wasn’t! It was sides! Simon hints at this in his statement - Sandie is always ‘cutting corners!’

North Guard Website

Clue 1

Looks proffesional - I wonder if we can log in?

Clue 2

A password is needed… I wonder what shape this might take?

Clue 3

Try looking into the scrap of paper that was found at the scene of the crime. Whoever did this must have access to the security back end… perhaps that scrap of paper is the key.

Final Clue

The solution to the scrap of paper will get you into this security website (see that clue for details). This now shows us that the building lost power at 17:59, resulting in alarm failure. I expect somebody did that on purpose… but who could have known the code to log in? It also shows that the ‘pressure gauge’ fluctuated to ZERO grams at 18:25, and then went back to a different weight. Now we know exactly when the trainer was swapped out for the toy basketball! That’s definitely helpful.
